Detox Diets – A Natural Cleansing Process

Again we need to remember that detoxification can simply be described as the removal of toxic substances from the body that have undesirable effects in the long run like skin rashes, various cancer, depression, insomnia, bloating and of most concern, obesity!

Although, as we have discussed above, the body organs such as the liver, kidney and colon are naturally designed to get rid of these toxins, there are diets that help to speed up the process.

Yes, they ensure that the body organs assigned to do this work does it at their best. Now, such diets are popularly referred to as detox diets.

Therefore, we can say that Detox diets are diets that are aimed at removing all the toxins from the body.

Although, the diets may vary, a typical diet recipe for this purpose would entail a period of fasting followed by a very strict diet of raw veggies, fruits (blended or not) and lots of water.

Besides that, there may also be in addition, the use of herbs and other supplements that are believed to clean the colons.

All the same, Detox diets are mainly used as a jumpstart process to a healthier living and are usually a great way to start on the road to a healthier lifestyle or to make up for a few days of not eating healthy. Nevertheless, it is not advisable to use this diet permanently.

There are several ways our bodies can tell us it’s time to detox. Such signs include;

Constant fatigue

Sluggishness

Irritated skin

Allergies

Stomach bloating

Mental confusion

Menstrual problems for women

Puffy eyes or eye bags.
